Course Overview

In this course, “Organizational Behavior and Leadership” is defined as the “approach” an individual person (often a leader) takes to lead members toward organizational goals that are aligned with corporate strategy. The purpose of this course is to help students develop the leadership skills they need to be more effective in the practical business world.

  • Learn key frameworks and their applications enabling them to grow into leaders that can cope better with the increasingly rapid changes taking place in today’s business environment.

About hybrid online/in-person classes:

All class sessions can be joined online.
In-person sessions will take place in central Bangkok (exact location to be shared with students). Enjoy meeting your classmates and lecturer in person if you are participating on site. There is a lunch gathering after classes on Day 3 and Day 6, courtesy of GLOBIS.

Faculty

Trond Varlid has extensive international marketing and senior executive experience that spans Europe, the US, and Asia.

He spent fifteen years in corporate banking in London and Tokyo and two years as Japan country manager for an Asian online wealth management company based in Singapore. He also spent seven years as president of Tomra Japan, an environmental technology joint venture between Sumitomo Corporation and Tomra, a pioneer and global market leader in sorting technology for materials recycling.

He is president and cofounder of EMC Quest K.K., helping business professionals in Tokyo become better presenters and communicators. He also coaches executives on dealing with difficult management, HR, and personal challenges. As program director of the JMEC Business Training Program in Tokyo, he provides a unique, hands-on training program for mid-career business professionals operated by eighteen foreign chambers of commerce in Japan.

At GLOBIS University, he teaches courses in HR management and corporate philosophy, among others.
